Danakil Depression, Documentaries

Claiming the Clay

Just found out about an interesting new series of short documentaries, called ‘Human Planet’. Every other week a different relation between man and its environment is analyzed; an analysis in which the landscape itself is the central actor. The themes, then, are: oceans, deserts, Antarctica, jungles, mountains, rivers and cities. The episode on the desert, for instance, shows the way in which the Kababish-clain in the Danakil Depression creates its own water supply.
